Overview
Neonatal Hypoglycemia is the most common metabolic problem in the neonatal nursery/NICU. Despite this, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Pediatric Endocrine Society (PES) cannot agree on the threshold for defining hypoglycemia. This educational activity will provide the learner with information on the causes of and the risk factors for hypoglycemia as well as strategies to prevent, treat and manage hypoglycemia.

Objectives
  1. Identify three (3) high-risk neonatal populations that require glucose screening.
  2. Name three (3) complications associated with intrauterine growth restriction and fetal growth restriction.
  3. Discuss three (3) variables around the controversy of defining hypoglycemia.
  4. Utilize glucose protocol to intervene in hypoglycemic infants.

Registration
NOTE: Registration is only open to Huntsville MEDNAX practice-affiliated hospitals.
